UK Financial Services Authority to start regulating Travel Insurance
The move by the UK government to have the UK-FSA to regulate the travel insurance business is a well-founded one for consumers are not protected form the actions of agencies if they decide not to pay up. This is the case with people who file for claims who are left helpless due to the fact that the arbitrary body responsible for settling claims is run and controlled by the industry itself. Studied in the UK have shown that firms who are regulated by the government have the best products due to the mere fact they are required to present all the facts and are better at doing so. General travel insurance firms have been self-regulating for many years and the more people are traveling, the more problems keep on rising. This would be good news for UK travelers for they stand a better chance of getting claims processed fairly and in accordance with accepted standards.
